Public pay lookup
You pay their salaries, so you have a right to see them. What a public employee is paid is a public record in Indiana. Here’s where the state publishes it, what each lookup covers, and how to ask for what isn’t online.

Before you use the data
- Gateway’s condition of use
To use Gateway’s employee lookup you agree, under IC 5-14-3-3(f), not to use the names and addresses you get for commercial or political purposes. That is why we link to the official lookups instead of republishing names here.
- Check what a figure includes
The state portal shows annualized salaries. Gateway explains what its compensation figures include on the lookup page, and separately lists which units provide health, pension or other benefits.
- Not online?
Ask the unit’s records office for the compensation records under the public records law. Our records request letter maker drafts the request, for example: “The name, job title and compensation of each employee of [unit] for calendar year 2025.”
