How we score
Two separate scores. Written-down rules. The same math for every official, whatever their party. If the record is too thin, we say so instead of guessing.
America First score
Members of Congress: the share of their graded actions that line up with the America First Foundation scorecard. Indiana lawmakers: the share of scored key votes where they voted the America First way. Same source and same math for everyone at each level, whatever their party.
- Members of Congress: Score = actions aligned / actions graded x 100, rounded to the nearest whole number, taken exactly as published on each member's America First Foundation scorecard page (cited on every person page).
- How that scorecard counts: stand-alone bills from the 117th to 119th Congresses (2021 to 2026) on immigration, trade and foreign policy. Sponsoring, co-sponsoring and final-passage votes all count as actions. Simple and concurrent resolutions are not graded. The Foundation's letter grades weigh Israel and Middle East measures more heavily; those weights are not published, so we show its letter grades as published but do not use them in the math.
- Federal key votes listed on this page are supporting detail only and do not change a federal score.
- Indiana General Assembly: each chamber has a fixed, public list of key votes. Each key vote lists the America First position and the reason, with a source. The America First position follows the principles on our mission page (election integrity, border and immigration enforcement, standing up to foreign adversaries, the Second Amendment, law and order, faith and family, property rights and taxpayers, school choice, Indiana first).
- Indiana score = votes with the America First position / key votes cast x 100. A Present vote counts as cast but not with the position. Missed key votes are left out of the math and shown on the person's page.
- Fewer than 5 key votes cast = Not enough public record yet. Statewide and county officials are not scored yet.
Job performance score
How reliably the official shows up to vote (70%) and how much of their own legislation moves (30%).
- Attendance points = 100 - 5 x (percent of roll-call votes missed), never below 0. Missing 2% of votes = 90 points; missing 20% or more = 0. Excused and Not voting both count as missed.
- State legislators: the 2026 session's final-passage (third reading) roll calls in their own chamber, counted only while they held the seat. Congress: every recorded roll call in the 119th Congress through the latest published data (House quorum calls left out).
- Lawmaking points = 25 for each bill they were the first-listed (primary) author or sponsor of that became law, plus 10 for each that passed their own chamber but has not become law. Capped at 100.
- Job score = 0.7 x attendance points + 0.3 x lawmaking points, rounded.
- The Speaker of the Indiana House is not scored for attendance, because by custom the Speaker does not vote on most roll calls.
- Follow-through on campaign promises is not scored yet. We will add it only when we can source the promise and the result for everyone in the same way.
Score bands: 90+ Excellent, 75+ Strong, 60+ Fair, 40+ Weak, below 40 Poor.
Not enough public record yet
- Fewer than 5 key votes cast, or fewer than 50 roll calls on record, means no score.
- Statewide officers (governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer, auditor) don’t cast recorded votes. They are listed, not scored, until a sourced, same-for-everyone rubric for their offices is ready.
- County officials (sheriffs and commissioners) are listed from official election results and state records. Their scores will use measurable public records such as jail inspections, State Board of Accounts audits and budgets, county by county, once there is enough to be fair.
- We show only official office information. No home addresses, phone numbers or personal details.

Federal scores: America First Foundation scorecard
America First scores for Indiana’s members of Congress come from the scorecard published by the America First Foundation ↗ (founded in 2020 by Nicholas J. Fuentes). The score is the share of each member’s graded actions that it marks as aligned, rounded to a whole number.
- What it counts: stand-alone bills from the 117th to 119th Congresses (2021 to 2026) on immigration, trade and foreign policy. Sponsoring, co-sponsoring and final-passage votes all count. Simple and concurrent resolutions are not graded.
- Its letter grades (A to F) weigh Israel and Middle East measures more heavily. The weights are not published, so we show the letter grades as published but use only the aligned share in our math.
- The federal key votes listed on this page are supporting detail. They are shown on each federal page but do not change the score.
- Source: America First Foundation scorecard ↗ and methodology ↗ (updated Sept. 6, 2026; data through June 30, 2026). It rates members of Congress only, so Indiana statewide, legislative and county officials stay on our own rubric.
